«Хочешь мира? Хочешь мира? Хочешь, я буду тебя давить гусеницами?» — в таких строчках вокалист «Жертвоприношений» Макс Евстропов сформулировал впечатления от последнего посещения родного города Новокузнецка: на пустыре, где он в детстве играл со школьными приятелями, ржавела военная техника. Альбом «Мертвых больше» писался примерно тогда же, в 2018 году. Бывает, музыка опережает время, и эта запись — тот самый случай. В 2022 произошла синхронизация.
«Мне казалось, — рассказывает Евстропов, — что мы работаем с некой радикальной исторической травмой. Её характер не вполне ясен. Как если бы случился конец света, и мы пребывали в ситуации, очерченной контурами апокалипсиса — вместе с тем даже не осознавая, что произошло. Песня „Истребление“ — об этом. В ней есть аллюзия на известную речь Геббельса, который экзальтирует публику странным вопросом: желает ли она тотальной войны, „более тотальной и радикальной“, чем можно себе представить?». В черном 2022-м эта апофатическая формулировка обрела конкретное воплощение: гусеницы давят за мир, и мы все оказались внутри того, что представить невозможно.
«Мертвых больше» — максимально сырая работа, все треки записаны в аскетичных условиях живьем, с одного-двух дублей на плёнку. «Нас было много, — говорит трубач Степан Качалин, — но не неприлично много, тогда „Жертвоприношения“ еще не разрослись до оркестра». Репетитивность, экономичность и грубость изобразительных средств делают запись мощной, мучительной и адекватной текущему моменту.

"Do you want peace? Do you want peace? Do you want me to crush you with chain tracks?”. In these lines the vocalist of "Sacrifices" Max Evstropov formulated the impressions of the last visit to his native city Novokuznetsk: in the barren place, where he used to play with his school friends as a child, military equipment was rusting. The album "The Dead Outnumber" was written around the same time, in 2018. Sometimes the music is ahead of its time, and this record is just that. Synchronization occurred in 2022.
“It seemed to me that we are working with some kind of radical historical trauma,“ - says Evstropov. “Its character is not entirely clear. As if the end of the world has happened, and we’ve found ourselves in a situation defined with the contours of apocalypse without even realizing what has come. The song "Extermination" is about that. There is an allusion to the famous speech of Goebbels that exalts the public with a strange question: does it want a total war, “more total and radical” than one can even imagine?“ In the black year of 2022 this apophatic formulation has found a concrete embodiment: the chain tracks are crushing for peace, and we all found ourselves inside something that we can’t even imagine.
“The Dead Outnumber” is a very raw work, all tracks were recorded live in ascetic conditions, from one or two takes to tape. “There were many of us,” says trumpeter Stepan Kachalin, “but not indecently many, then the Zhertvoprinosheniya had not yet grown into an orchestra.” The repetitiveness, economy and coarseness of sound means make the recording powerful, painful and adequate to the current moment.
